Profil Kebugaran Jasmani Pada Mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Riau Angkatan 2022 Menggunakan Harvard Step Test
Physical fitness is a person’s ability and capacity to carry out daily activities efficiently over an extended period without experiencing significant fatigue, thereby allowing them to perform additional tasks. There are various methods to assess an individual's physical fitness, one of which is the Harvard Step Test. This study aims to determine the physical fitness profile of medical students at Riau University, class of 2022, based on the Harvard Step Test. This study employed a quantitative descriptive method with a cross-sectional design, involving 41 subjects. The sampling technique used was consecutive sampling from medical students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Riau, class of 2022. Physical fitness assessment was conducted by measuring the duration and pulse rate after the Harvard Step Test, which were then entered into a formula to obtain the physical fitness score. Data analysis was performed using univariate analysis. In this study, the majority of respondents were aged 20 years (58.5%). Most respondents had a body weight in the range of 56–65 kg (36.6%), and a height in the range of 156–160 cm (24.4%). Based on the Harvard Step Test results, the most common duration was in the range of 50–91 seconds (46.3%), and the most frequent average pulse rate was 59–63 beats/30 seconds (34.1%). Furthermore, the distribution of physical fitness index was mostly in the very poor category (87.8%). The majority of students (87.8%) had a very poor level of physical fitness, with only 2.4% falling into the very good category. These findings indicate a low level of physical fitness, particularly in terms of cardiorespiratory endurance, among medical students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Riau, class of 2022.
