Peran Penyuluh Pertanian Dalam Pengembangan Kelompoktani Padi Di Desa Benteng Utara Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir
ABSTRACT
Agricultural development in rural areas is greatly influenced by the strength
of farmers' institutions, one of which is the farmer group (kelompoktani). In its
development, this group requires assistance from agricultural extension workers.
This study aims to analyze the role of agricultural extension workers in the
development of rice farmer groups in Benteng Utara Village, Indragiri Hilir
Regency. This research employs a quantitative descriptive method with data
collection techniques including questionnaires, interviews, and observations of
farmer group members and agricultural extension workers. Data analysis was
conducted using multiple linear regression to examine the relationship between the
role of extension workers and the development of farmer groups. The results of the
study indicate that agricultural extension workers play an important role as
educators, disseminators of information/innovation, facilitators, consultants,
supervisors/mentors, and evaluators, which positively impacts the improvement of
group management, regular activities, and member participation. Nevertheless,
challenges remain, such as the limited number of extension workers, low intensity
of extension activities, and inadequate supporting facilities. The role of extension
workers also significantly affects development variables such as regular task
division, adequate facilities, group experience, group norms and rules, and group
achievements. The role of extension workers contributes greatly to the success of
farmer group development. Therefore, greater government support is needed to
increase the number and quality of extension workers, as well as to provide
continuous facilities and training.
