Analisis Dampak Kegiatan Replanting Terhadap Sosial Dan Ekonomi Petani Kelapa Sawit Di Kecamatan Timpeh Kabupaten Dharmasraya Sumatera Barat
ABSTRACT
This study aims to analyze the socio-economic impact of replanting activities, specifically the revitalization of aging oil palm plantations, on the conditions of smallholder farmers in Timpeh District, Dharmasraya Regency, West Sumatra. Replanting is a strategic agricultural effort to restore the productivity of plantations that have surpassed their economic lifespan; however, it also poses significant challenges for farmers, particularly concerning the cessation of income during the non-productive period. This research employed a survey method with a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative descriptive analysis to examine social impacts and a t-test analysis to assess income changes as an economic indicator. The sample consisted of 28 farmers purposively selected from a population of 110 households that participated in the replanting program phase in 2020 and 2021. The findings indicate that replanting has a significant impact on farmers' livelihoods. Socially, many farmers were compelled to switch to temporary jobs such as daily laborers, small-scale traders, or other non-agricultural work. Social interactions within the community also shifted due to changes in routines and reduced financial capacity.
