Perencanaan Dan Pembuatan Mesin Pencacah Sampah Organik Dengan Wadah Tipe Vertikal Pada Skala Rumah Tangga
ABSTRACT
The increasing amount of household organic waste requires an efficient solution in its management. One effort that can be made is to design a simple and easy-to-maintain household-scale organic waste shredder. The purpose of this design is to produce a shredder that is able to crush organic waste such as food scraps, leaves, and grass into smaller sizes so that it is easier for the composting process. This machine uses a 0.5 HP electric motor with a rotation of 1400 rpm as the main driver. The shredder container is in the form of a vertical cylinder (drum) with a diameter of 580 mm and a height of 600 mm. The main components of the machine include a shaft made of S45C steel, connectors, high-carbon steel blades, a bearing system, and a support frame. The assembly of the components is designed using mechanical bolt and nut connections without welding so that it is easy to disassemble and the planning results show that this shredder can operate effectively at a capacity of ± 60 kg / hour and is suitable for household needs. This machine is expected to support the management of organic waste directly at the source and contribute to reducing the volume of waste in final disposal sites (TPA) as well as supporting the production of animal feed and compost fertilizer for farmers.
