This study aimed to enhance the learning process and enhance students' learning
results in mathematics by implementing the Problem Based Learning approach. Students are
encouraged to actively engage in the learning process through this approach of instruction.
This study is a classroom action research using observation sheets of teacher and student
activities and mathematics learning outcome test sheets as data collection instruments. The
subjects of this study were students of class VIII2 MTs YPI Kuala Enok, Indragiri Hilir Regency.
The results showed that before the action was carried out, the percentage of students who
achieved the KKM was 20%. However, after the action was carried out in cycle I there was an
increase to 56.66% and in cycle II it increased to 86.66%. The learning process carried out
increased at each meeting. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that implementing
the PBL model in the learning process can improve the learning process and improve students'
mathematics learning outcomes.
