Analisis Pembangunan Daerah Berdasarkan Tipologi Wilayah Di Provinsi Riau
Creating a regional mapping to identify typology and specific
characters of every Kabupaten in Riau Province based on its potency is a
crucial step in formulating the best strategy for regional development. This
study was aimed to map the potency of regional resources (natural, human,
infrastructure, and social capital) for every Kabupaten in Riau Province; to
identify the characteristics its regional economic and agricultural potencies;
and to analyze the linkage of economic development and agropolitan
activities.
This study mainly explored secondary data obtained from governmental
institutions and other relevant resources. There are 65 variables analyzed
mainly with Cluster Analysis and Principal Component Analysis to identify the
potency of the regional resources for every Kabupaten in Riau Province, and
to map the typology and characteristics of every Kabupaten based upon their
regional economic and agricultural potencies.
Based on clustering the 65 variables of natural resources and economic
activities from 12 Kabupaten/Kota in Riau Province, those variables grouped into
four clusters that can be further identified as: basic agricultural activities,
education and employment, non-agricultural based activities, and natural
resources and regional financial. On the other hand, the cluster analysis also
shows how the Kabupaten/Kota grouped into four clusters as well as four
typologies. The typology I region comprised of Bengkalis, Kota Dumai, and Kota
Pekanbaru with their main character as a highly non-agricultural activities region.
The typology II region comprised of Kuantan Singingi, Rokan Hulu, Kampar, and
Indragiri Hulu, with their main character as a highly agricultural activities region.
Further, Kepulauan Meranti and Indragiri Hilir fall into typology III region, with
their specificity as a region very suitable for coconut and crops production. Last
cluster is typology IV region, with its potency in highly production of plantation
and agriculture sub-sectors.
