Pekanbaru city with high activity affects the pollution of air, water, and soil. Sanitary service and city parks Pekanbaru overcome this by creating a green open space. But the percentage of green open space is still limited to only 10-20% of the total area of the city of Pekanbaru. In addition to the dissemination of goverment to the people on it are still lacking. As a result of community participation in the maintenance and improvement of green open space is still lacking. The importance of realizing the beauty and cleanliness of the city pekanbaru this study is intended to find out how the communication strategy and the sanitary Pekanbaru city park in the implementation of environmental management programs with the concept of green open spaces.
This research uses qualitative research methods with the presentation of descriptive analysis,with the selection of informants using purposive sampling technique.This research object is the communication strategy of the department cleanliness and landscaping pekanbaru city,with research subjects include the employees of the department cleanliness and landscaping pekanbaru city and urban community pekanbaru.data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation.
Of the result showed that the communication strategy undertaken by the department of hygiene and pekanbaru city parks in the implementation of environmental management programs based on the concept of green open spage has been going well. The program is described by recognizing the communication objectives in the from of counseling outreach focused on the students and the program of public complaints , the selection of appropriate communication media such as print media and electronic media, the communication message in the from of appeals keeping the environment so as to demand a share of the community in maintaining and managing green open space environment, and also the main role of the department cleanliness in the procurement of green open space as well as those who contribute to managing.
