Penentuan Kualitas Batu Bata Merah Berdasarkan Konduktivitas Termal
A compressive strength testing (σ) and thermal conductivity (k) have been performed on red bricks from the district of Tenayan Raya and Rumbai. This research was conducted using an experimental method and its purpose was to prove the theory of the thermal conductivity having relationship with compressive strength. The result showed that the highest compressive strength due to the conventional red brick of Rumbai district and Tenayan Raya district are 10.82 x 105 N/m2 and 5.71 x 105 N/m2, the lowest compressive strength was due to the press red brick of Rumbai district and Tenayan Raya district are 8.57 x 105 N/m2 and 3.67 x 105 N/m2. The research results of thermal conductivity showed that the thermal conductivity value of the best sample of conventional red brick of Rumbai district and Tenayan Raya district are 1.05 J/smC°and 0.965 J/smC°, the thermal conductivity value of the lowest sample of press red brick of Rumbai district and Tenayan Raya district are 0.965 J/smC° and 0.857 J/smC°. The affecting factor of quality of the red brick is density. The density of conventional red bricks of Rumbai district and Tenayan Raya for compressive strength are 2486.880 Kg/m3 and 2000.583 Kg/m3 and the press red brick are 2214.577 Kg/m3 and 1696.793 Kg/m3. The density of conventional red bricks of Rumbai district and Tenayan Raya for thermal conductivity are 2200 Kg/m3 and 2100 Kg/m3 and the press red brick are 2120 Kg/m3 and 2000.5 Kg/m3. Based on the result there in relationship between compressive strength and thermal conductivity was propotional.
