Merancang Dan Mengamati Arus Eddy Menggunakan Lempengan Plat Aluminium

Design and experiment of Eddy current on aluminium plat using solenoid have been carried out. The magnetic field used is generated by two solenoids that connected with series and parallel combination. The solenoids were designed with a turns of 400, diameter of 3,8cm and length of 10cm. Neodymium Iron Boron magnets (NdFeB) were used as a source of magnetic field for comparison. In order to obtain higher value of the magnetic field, it is necessary to introduce ferromagnetic material (iron) as a core of the solenoid. The value of the magnetic field was measured using Pasco PS-2162 Magnetic Probe. Eddy currents generated in the plat are due to the change of magnetic flux as the plate moves back and forth between the magnetic poles. the magnetic field value of the solenoid was varied as a function of electric current and distance. The dimension of the aluminium plate is 10cm in length, 6cm in width and extended with a stick having length of 20cm. The plates were designed with one slit, three slits, and four slits and without. Solenoids with a ferromagnetic core were connected in series with a distance of 1.5 cm between them. The results show that the highest value of magnetic field (37.8851 mT ) was produced by applying current of 7A on the circuit. Moreover, the number of oscillations of the plats is affected by the magnetic field strength and the number of strips on the plates. The more the number of strips on the plates, the more oscillations occur. This phenomenon is due to the cuts (strips) in the plate result in open circuit reducing the Eddy current greatly. For oscillation by using NdFeB, the number of oscillation was significant decrease.
