Strategi Pengembangan Lebah Madu Di Kecamatan Rambah Hilir Kabupaten Rokan Hulu Provinsi Riau

The purpose of this research is to identify flowering plants related to honey production, to analyze the economic value of the use of the honey bee, and to formulate honey bee development strategies for Pasir Hilir Jaya, subdistrict Rambah Hilir, district Rokan Hulu in Riau province on Sumatera in Indonesia. The results of this study conclude honeybee’s feed sources come from the species of Acacia mangium, Asystasia sp, Mimosa pudica, Ageratum conyzoides, Solanum sp, sp Plucheaceae, Lantana sp. The economic value of the use of honeybees in Forest Farmer Groups Master Jaya is Rp. 1.804.715.000,00/ year or Rp 150,392,917 / month (average of Rp. 2,506,549 / beekeeper / month). (26-Des-2016 kurs BI = 13,470 Rp/USD; $173,667 USD/yr = avg $11,165/month = avg $186/beekeeper/month). The proposed beekeeping development strategy is: capital support from the government (district/provincial) as well as from companies in developing beekeeping cultivation into a domestic industry in Pasir Hilir Jaya subdistrict Rambah Hilir that is able to compete in the marketplace; socialization, training and assistance by the Riau Province Forestry Service to the community of Pasir Jaya, subdistrict Rambah Hilir in the use of honeybee development for the improvement of the local economy; maximizing the utilization of food resources and the colonies to multiply the number of hive boxes; planting of crops that produce pollen (like shorgum, calliandra); site preparation for beekeeping per location with Acacia mangium species trees; replanting of Acacia mangium trees by PT Sumatera Sylva Lestari; implementation of routine systems by the beekeepers regarding the supervision of the hives, pests, predators, and disease; provision of acreage for local communities with Acacia mangium species trees as an obligation of the company; government role (both Riau Province Department of Forestry Service and Ministry of Environment and Forestry) in facilitating the determination of the main species of plant life for PT. Sumatera Sylva Lestari’s use of the land and for the community’s use of the land; coordination between the company and the beekeepers when harvesting.
