Pengaruh Thermal Front Tehadap Hasil Tangkapan Ikan Tuna Di Perairan Sumatera Barat Menggunakan Citra Satelit Aqua Modis
Mapping the distribution of thermal front and density of tuna catch can give information about potential fishing of tuna and to improve the amount of tuna production. This research aim to know the spatial and temporal characteristic of thermal front, and tuna distribution and influence of thermal front for tuna cathes in waters of West Sumatera. The chatch data obtained from the logbook of tuna longline fishing landed in Bungus Fishing Port dan the daily data of sea surface temperature from level-3 Aqua MODIS satellite image. The analysis used is thermal front analysis using a single image edge detection algorithm and density analysis using a spatial analysis density. The incident of thermal front commonly found in high seas the Indian Ocean of Western Sumatera, whereas some incident were found in the Mentawai Strait, Siberut Strait and Pagai Island with a lower frequency. The highest fequency ditribution of thermal front found on Januari for 23 days with the average temperature 30,30 Celcius and the lowest frequency were found on September for 6 days with the average temperature 29,10 Celcius. The distribution maximum were found in the Siberut Strait and western of Siberut Strait to Indian Ocean of Western part of West Sumatera. The maximum amount of tuna catch are 19 number with the average of cathch are 4,11 number per catch activity and the highest total monthly chatch are 350 number for 30 days of fishing. The research not found the affect of thermal front for tuna chatch in waters of West Sumatera. Its caused by fishing point, the quality of image and density method used. Key word : Tuna, fish density, Indian Ocean, spatial and temporal, thermal front, West Sumatera
