Tuanku Tambusai Airport is one of five pioneer airports in Riau located in Rokan Hulu. The discourse of the district government to open commercial flights with more routes has the potential to do terminal redesign and development. This certainly requires adjustments in term of function and physical appearance of the terminal. The research methods used include field data collection, literature studies and empirical studies. The application of the concept to the design aims to produce a terminal image as the face of region by showing the sense of locality, but still keeping up with the times. The result of this stuy confirm that the principles of neo vernacular architecture can be applied one of them through the method of exploring new forms with fixed meanings.
