Gambaran Jumlah Neutrofil Darah Tepi Pasien Penyakit Paru Obstruktif Kronik (PPOK) Di Ruang Rawat Inap RSUD Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau Tahun 2017
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a common, preventable and treatable diesease that is characterized by progressive and persistent airflow limitation in respiratory tract and associated with an inflammatory response caused by exposure to noxious particles or gases. An elevated neutrophils in peripheral bloodstream are triggered by circulating cytokines in respiratory tract that stimulate granulocytic and monocytctic progenitors in the bone marrow to produce neutrophils then migrate to lung. Malnutrition may suppress hematopoiesis that can affect differential leukocyte count. The aim of this study was to know the description of peripheral blood neutrophil in COPD patients at lung wards Arifin Achmad Regional General Hospital Riau Province in 2017. This study was using descriptive retrospective design with total sampling technique. The sources of data were medical records of COPD patients with number of sample were 137 patients. The results of this study showed characteristic based on age 20,4% were 65 – 69 years old, 83,9% were male, 50,3% had smoking history and 36,5% had normal nutritional status category based on BMI. High leukocyte count and neutrophils were found 59,2% and 73,8% respectively. This study shows that COPD patients obtained neutrophilia.
