Minat Memilih Jurusan IPS Dan Faktor Yang Mempengaruhi Pada Siswa SMA Negeri 2 Tambang Kabupaten Kampar

This study aims to determine the interest in choosing Social Sciences majors and the factors that influence students of SMA Negeri 2 Tambang in Kampar Regency. Interest in choosing majors is influenced by visions, family environment and school environment. This research uses descriptive quantitative method. The population in this study are all students of class XI IPS, amounting to 170 people. The sample is determined using propotional random sampling to obtain 119 people. The data analysis technique used is Path Analysis.
The results of the analysis show that the family environment and school environment have a positive and significant effect on the visions of choosing an IPS major. Visions and school environment have a positive and significant effect on the interest in choosing an IPS major. While the family environment has a negative effect on the interest in choosing social studies majors due to the low level of family education and the differences in the wishes of students with parents in the selection of majors. Therefore parents are expected to provide support and attention so that their children are more interested in choosing social studies majors. The school is expected to further increase support, guidance and motivation for students to choose social studies majors.
