Pemanfaatan Limbah Lumpur Ipal Pabrik Sawit Dan Cangkang Biji Karet Menjadi Briket Dengan Variasi Ukuran Partikel Dan Komposisi Bahan Baku
The utilization of fossil energy sources overload resulted in the availability of energy sources depleting and should be offset by the provision of alternative energy renewable, abundant amount, and the cost price is so affordable by the public, one of which is briquette. Palm oil mill sludge is one of the wastes at the palm oil processing. Palm oil mill sludge has high organic matter content but has not been utilized optimally. Palm oil mill sludge with the addition of rubber seed shells can be used as raw material for making briquettes through the carbonization process. This study aims to study the effect of variations in treatment on the calorific value and compressive strength of the briquettes produced. In this study the palm oil mill sludge was carbonated at 300°C and rubber seed shells at 500°C, each for 60 minutes. Variations of variables used were particle size 60, 80, and 100 mesh and the composition of palm oil mill sludge and rubber seed shell were 90%:10%, 80%:20%, 70%:30%, and 60%:40%. The results showed that the best briquette heating value and compressive strength of briquettes were obtained on the composition of raw materials 60%:40% with a particle size of 100 mesh, were the heating value of 5085.805 cal/gr and compressive strength of 6.63 kg/cm2 with 4% moisture content, 4.5% of ash content, 9.3% of volatile matter and 82.2% fixed carbon. Based on the results of the ANOVA test, it was shown that the composition of raw materials had a significant effect on the calorific value while the particle size had a significant effect on the calorific value and compressive strength of the briquettes produced.
