Strategi Pengembangan Usahatani Komoditas Jagung Untuk Mendukung Ketahanan Pangan Di Kota Pekanbaru

This study aims to identify strategies in developing corn commodities to realize food security in the City of Pekanbaru. This study uses primary data for 108 respondents following the provisions of Isaac and Michael with sampling techniques that provide equal opportunities for each element (member) with a level of error of 10% representing the entire number of corn farmers in the City of Pekanbaru. This research is a descriptive quantitative study which was analyzed by the SWOT method to be able to draw which strategies will be applied in the development of corn commodities to realize food endurance in the city of Pekanbaru.
The results showed that based on the SWOT analysis diagram, it shows how corn farming in the City of Pekanbaru has a strategy in dealing with problems in the internal and external environment. Where this strategy is in quadrant 1 (aggressive strategy). Aggressive strategies focus more on strength (opportunities) strategies, namely by using the power to take advantage of opportunities. The SO (Strength-opportunities) strategy is that the ease of access to superior corn seeds will accelerate the production process and is supported by government policy. The experience of corn agribusiness will accelerate the production/business development process so as to increase people's purchasing power and meet high market demand and institutional farmer groups can encourage increasing the amount of production so they can market corn products because many food products are made from corn.
