Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the top 10 causes of death in the world and Indonesia is in the third place with the highest TB cases in 2016. To reduce TB incidence, the roles of various sectors are needed, one of them is the community. This study aimed to describe the role of community to control pulmonary tuberculosis in the working area of Public Health Center that has implemented Public Private Mix (PPM) in Pekanbaru. This study was a descriptive qualitative with in-depth interviews. The informants of this study were cadres, PMO, and government officials. The data processed by doing data transcript, coding, categorization, conclusion and analyzed using content analysis.
The results showed that the role of cadres in TB screening was not optimal, cadres also did not play a role as PMO or PMO coordinator. But the role of cadres in counseling is quite good even though there was some problems when doing counseling and selecting suspect. The role of local government was giving license and information dissemination to public. The role of PMO was good enough to accompany and supervise the treatment of patients although there was problems that faced by PMO as patients who are tired of undergoing treatment, did not want to use masks, and stop taking drugs when side effects occur.
