Strategi Pengembangan Industri Jasa Perhotelan Di Kota Pekanbaru (Studi Kasus Hotel Bintang Satu)

The hospitality service industry is one of the leading service sectors in a country's economy. The hotel industry continues to experience growth until now has great potential to develop through increasing demand. Pekanbaru is one of the cities in Indonesia which is a city leading to metropolitanity with very rapid development in all aspects, including the hospitality services industry. The purpose of this study is to review the potential and formulate a strategy for developing 1-star hotels in Pekanbaru. This study uses secondary data and primary data with qualitative descriptive methods with SWOT analysis. The results of this study indicate that 1-star hotels have a strategy in developing business. Internal analysis shows the strength and weakness factors and external analysis shows the opportunity and challenge factors of weakness in the strategy of developing a 1 star hotel in Pekanbaru. Based on analysis of internal and external factors, the formulation of a 1-star hotel development strategy includes: a) S-O strategy: The need to maintain the quality and quantity of service to the industry to maintain market demand; b) W-O strategy: The need to take advantage of technological developments in increasing promotional activities in businesses and can establish cooperation in educational institutions to improve the quality of the workforce; c) S-T strategy: set competitive prices and maintain characteristics in each industry; d) W-T strategy: Creating innovation in pursuit of industry with a minimalist concept so as not to use a lot of funding sources. And based on the SWOT analysis diagram, the right strategy used for 1 star hotels in Pekanbaru City is in quadrant 1 (aggressive strategy). The expected output from this paper is to increase the competitiveness of 1-star hospitality in the city of Pekanbaru and can increase economic growth.Keywords: SWOT Analysis, Service Industry, Hospitality
