The Use Of Instructional Media By Pre-Service English Teachers During Teaching Practicum

This study was aimed at investigating the use of instructional media by pre-service English teachers during teaching practicum. This study was descriptive quantitative research. This research was conducted by spreading questionnaire to all students who take teaching practicum in 2018. There are 85 students that is given the questionnaire to be filled trough their email and sent it back to the researcher. After all data were collected, the researcher calculated them by using Likert’s scare to know the percentage of instructional media usage. With 57% average, the use of instructional media by pre-service English teachers was in sometimes category. Among the four types of media (visual, audio, audio-visual, and computer), the highest percentage was 63% for visual media that categorized in often category. Then, for the lowest percentage was 47% for audio media that categorized in sometimes category. In addition, based on the percentage of language skills and learning steps result, the average of instructional media usage by pre-service English teachers was 55% that categorized in sometimes category. The average of instructional media usage based on its functions by PET during teaching practicum was 62% that categorized in seldom category.
