Respons Morfologi Dan Fisiologi Pada Tanaman Terung (Solanum Melongena L.) Terhadap Cekaman Kekeringan
Drought stress can limit agricultural production. The expansion of agricultural
area especially horticultural cultivation requires peatland as agricultural area, but
peat has a high porosity of land that will impact on drought in dry season.
Eggplant is one of the favorable horticultural crops to be cultivated, but the
eggplant is sensitive to drought during its growth and developmental stages. This
study was aimed was to observe morphology and physiology of the eggplant on
four levels of drought stress with watering interval. This research was conducted
at Green House of Department of Biology FMIPA University of Riau using
Completely Randomized Design with four levels of watering interval 3, 6, 9, and
12 days. The resulted obtained are drought stress significantly affect stem
diameter, leaf area, trichome density, trichome width, stomata width, and porous
width. The longer the watering interval caused a decrease in stem diameter
growth of 54,83% and leaf area of 82,69%. The physiology response resulted in
the longer watering interval resulted decreased in three times greater trichome
density than control, trichome width by 59,02%, stomata width by 78,34%, and
80,80%.
