This research is motivated the existence of SPPP-PUK (Plantation
Agricultural Workers Union - Head of Work Unit) Kebun Kayangan in PT. Salim
Ivomas Pratama Tbk (PT. Simp Tbk) Kebun Kayangan. The formation of SPPPPUK
(Agriculture Agricultural Workers Union - Head of Work Unit) of Kayangan
Gardens is the result of workers 'struggle with the support of the company as a
form of respect for employees' rights stipulated in the law. And also the
determination of workers to improve their welfare, also so that there are no
arbitrary actions from the company to employees, high appreciation, to the issue
of guarantee for employees' retirement.
The purpose this study is to determine the welfare of employees before the
existence a union, and also to determine the effect of the existence of unions on
employee welfare. This type of research is field research with a qualitative
approach, collecting data using interviews and observation, testing the validity of
the data using the triangulation method. The informants selected by purposive
sampling based on the positional informants who were considered to know
everything related to this discussion, 6 (six) selected informants.
The results of this study indicate the existence of SPPP-PUK (Agriculture
Agricultural Workers Union - Head of Work Unit) Kebun Kayangan has a
positive effect on the welfare of employees of PT. Simp Tbk Kebun Kayangan. And
also there are differences in employee welfare between before and after the
existence of a union.
