Strategi Pengembangan Industri Jasa Event Organizer Mice (Meeting, Insentive, Conference, Exhibition) Di Kota Pekanbaru
This research was conducted in the Pekanbaru city, because the Pekanbaru city is
being intensively carried out revamping the infrastructure to become a MICE
destination city. This study aims to determine the strategy of MICE event
organizer business development in the Pekanbaru city in the future. The
population of this study is MICE business owners in the Pekanbaru city. The
population in this study amounted to 23 businesses. Samples taken were as many
as 3 representatives of MICE businesses in Pekanbaru city. Types and sources of
data that the authors used in this study. Types and sources of data that the authors
use in this study are primary data using questionnaires and secondary data
covering population data, population growth data, business development data
obtained from the Tourism and Culture Office of the Pekanbaru city, the Central
Statistics Agency of the Pekanbaru city, and the office of planting capital and
integrated services of One Door Pekanbaru city. Data analysis technique used by
researchers is to use the SWOT analysis method using IFAS matrix, EFAS matrix,
IE matrix, SWOT matrix and grand strategy matrix. The SWOT analysis shows the
position of the MICE event organizer service industry in Pekanbaru City is in
quadrant I which means the position of the MICE Event Organizer service
industry in Pekanbaru City is a favorable situation because the MICE Event
Organizer company has opportunities and strengths so that it can take full
advantage of opportunities so that it is able to implement strategies which
supports an aggressive growth policy. The opportunity factors are government
support, changes in community trends, increased purchasing power, availability
of meeting rooms and ball rooms, and the expansion of SSK II Airport while the
strengths are strategic location, information technology support, cooperation with
various parties, the number of relationships, and the appropriate price with the
facilities obtained. The weaknesses are promotion that has not been effective, less
competent human resources, innovations and events that tend to be menoton and
institutions that support MICE activities do not yet exist, while the threat is
increasing service among competitors organizing Event Organizer Services and
price competition and promotion between similar business competitors.
