Penerapan Folding Architecture Pada Perancangan Monumen Pdri Di Koto Tinggi

ABSTRACT
Emergency Government of Republic Indonesia (PDRI) is one of the events history
that occurred at the time of the war of independence. PDRI became a milestone in
the struggle of Indonesian people. The existence of PDRI as an emergency
government in West Sumatera under the leadership of Sjafruddin Prawiranegara
became a symbol of unity and effective in raising the resistance of Indonesia to
reclaim the power and independence’s back. To commemorate the historical
event, the government was build a monument of the emergency Government of the
Republic of Indonesia (PDRI) in Koto tinggi West Sumatera but nowadays the
condition of monument is not maintained and the facilities its not complete also
mixed with social activities. The solution of the problem is the design of the PDRI
Monument in the new place with various facilities by implementing folding
architecture in the form search method with the application of intertwinning
concept. Folding architecture is one of the methods of finding shapes that focuses
on the process of finding the shape before the other design processes that is
focusing on the form of communicative exploration that can communicating the
function of the PDRI Monument object and can be understood by visually and
intuitively.
