Pertumbuhan Bibit Kelapa Sawit (Elaeis Guineensis Jacq.) Di Main Nursery Pada Media Sub Soil Ultisol Yang Di Siram Air Sumur Dan Gambut Dengan Interval Berbeda
ABSTRACT
The main problem of oil palm nursery in the medium sub soil water
holding Ultisol is a low tension. Oil palm is a crop that is prone to water stres.
Limited or excessive water availability for watering can be overcome by
conducting watering intervals and adding organic material present in peat water to
improve the nursery media, increase growth and the ability of the soil to retain
water. The study aims to determine the effect of water sources and watering
intervals and their interactions on the growth of oil palm seedlings in the main
nursery on media sub soil Ultisol. This research was conducted at the green house
Faculty Agriculture, University of Riau, from July-November 2019. The study
used factorial RAL consisting of 2 factors and 3 replications, factor 1 water source
(As, Ag) factor 2 watering intervals (2x a day, ½ l Morning and ½ l Afternoon, 2x
a day, 1 l Morning and 1 l Afternoon, 1 l daily, 2 l afternoon, 1x daily, 2 l
morning). The results show that the interaction between watering interval and peat
water sources occurs on observations of the tuber diameter, root volume and dry
weight. The effect of watering interval is seen on the tuber diameter and dry
weight, the effect of the water source seen on the root volume. Provision of peat
water with watering intervals of 1 l morning and 1 l evening tends to show a better
effect than other interactions.
