Pemanfaatan biopestisida akar tuba (derris elliptica benth.) Terhadap hama wereng coklat (nilaparvata lugens stal.) Pada tanaman padi (oryza sativa l.)
Brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens Stal.) is the main pest of rice plants. Controls that are carried out generally use synthetic insecticides which cause negative impacts such as secondary pest explosion, resistance, death of natural enemies, resurgence and environmental pollution. So we need an alternative in pest control, such us using insecticide botanical from the tuba root (Derris elliptica Benth.). This study aimed to test the ability of extracts of some parts of tuba root plants, to get the best concentration of tuba root extracts and to test the ability of tuba root extracts with organic solvents to control brown planthoppers in rice in the greenhouses with different spraying intervals.
The research was carried out at the Plant Pest Laboratory and Experimental Garden Technical Implementation Unit, Postgraduate Agricultural Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University. The research was carried out in May-December 2019. Three stages of the research experiment, namely: 1) testing of botanical insecticides extracts of tuba root plant parts against brown planthoppers in rice plants, using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 6 replications, obtained 18 units trial. The treatment is the extract of the tuba roots from the roots, twigs and leaves. 2) the toxicity test of several concentrations of tuba root extract with organic solvents against brown planthoppers in rice, using CRD with 5 treatments and 6 replications, obtained 30 experimental units. The treatment is a concentration of 0%, 0,25%, 0,50%, 0,75% and 1%. 3) interval test of tuba root extract application with organic solvents against brown planthoppers in rice plants in green houses, using CRD with 4 treatments and 5 replications to obtain 20 experimental units. The treatment was without spraying the tuba root extract, the interval of spraying the tuba root extract was 1×1 week, 1×2 week and 1×3 week.
Botanical insecticide of tuba root extract from the root is the best for controlling brown planthoppers in rice, because it can cause 100% mortality with an initial time of death 2,33 hours after application and a lethal time of 50 17,33 hours after application. The best tuba root extract was at a concentration of 1% because it was able to cause 95,0% mortality with an initial time of death 2,83 hours after application and a lethal time of 50 18,00 hours after application. Spraying of tuba root extract once a week is the best interval because it can reduce the average number of nymph populations 38,20 individuals/clump, 31,80 individuals/clump, attack intensity 24%, plant height 115,60 cm, total number of tillers. 52,40 tillers/clump, the number of productive tillers is 50 tillers/clump, dry grain weight is 117,16 g/clump, percentage of filled grain is 79,84% and weight of 1000 grains is 20,56 g /clump.
