Pengembangan Alat Peraga Viskositas Berdasarkan Pengukuran Kecepatan Angular Berbasis Mikrokontroler Arduino Uno
This study aims to analyze and examine the development of Viscosity
Instruments based on angular speed, which is used for students to understand the
viscosity concept. A rotation phototransistor sensor and a PT 100 temperature
sensors were used to detect the rotation per minute (RPM) as well as the
temperature variation processed by a microcontroller, which is then displayed on
the LCD screen. The instrument was calibrated and tested using a tachometer
based on the blade holes and the fluid temperature variations of 40 °C, 50 °C and
60 °C. Fluid samples used were Turalik 52, Yamalube 10W 40, STP 15W, and
Shell Helix purchased from Pertamina.
The initial calibration has determined the RPM and viscometer shaft
rotation value performed under conditions without fluid (blank). The results
showed excellent accuracy with calibration error of 0.2%. Blade testing at
different temperature showed that the blade D with 8 holes has a viscosity value
close to the reference value (142 mPas). The decrease in viscosity value depicts
an exponential graph due to an increase in temperature as a result of the
increasing of the fluid kinetic energy. The increase of temperature caused the
breaking of atomic bonds of molecules so that molecules of the fluid can move
freely. The minimum error percentage is 1.4% for Yamalube 10W 40 fluids at 50
°C, while the maximum error percentage is 38.1% for Turalik 52 fluid at 40 °C.
Based on the test results, the recommended research samples of this tool are
Yamalube 10W 40 and STP 15W 40 with relatively small percentage error at each
temperature. Viscosity instruments are equipped with an instruction book of tools
application and student worksheets (LKS). Validation (к) and practicality (P) of
the tool were verified by expert (lecturers and physics teachers) as well as by the
practitioners (validators and students) and gave results a value of 0.897% and
94.25% respectively. Based on this result, the viscometer instruments is said to be
valid and very practical as an experimental tool.
