Perancangan Dan Simulasi Metamaterial Heksagonal Untuk Aplikasi Biosensor

ROMI FADLI SYAHPUTRA / 1610248122 - Nama Orang;

The development of medical diagnostic devices such as biosensors
is tredemeous improving to obtain an excelent biosensor that is more
efficient, sensitive and accurate. Metamaterial-based biosensors are
currently being developed massively because of their unique characteristics
which not found in conventional electronic biosensors. One of their
properties is negative refractive index which provides a new technique for
developing diagnostic devices. The focus of this study is an investigation of
unit cell metamaterial simulation in form of hexagonal split-ring resonator
(SRR). Experiments were carried out to validation the scaterring parameters
of S11 and S21 using network analyzer. Frequency range of the simulation is
1-30 GHz, but for the experimental characterization is only 1-9 GHz.
The results show that the change in ring size and thickness of the
substrate caused a redshift frequency over increament of the ring size,
where resonant frequency shifts from 6,2 GHz for R2 = 3,5 mm to 5,44 GHz
for R2 = 5,5 mm. Thicker substrates produce a lower resonant frequencies.
Meanwhile, thickness variations of metallic inclusion are only slightly
change the magnitude of S-parameter without shifting the resonant
frequency. The resonant frequency of the experiment and the simulation is
closely similar with erroneous about 8.4%.
Hexagonal metamaterial simulation proved to be applicable as a
biosensor of a number of organic materials, especially freshwater,
seawater, distilled water, and ethanol. Resonant frequencies of freshwater,
seawater, and distilled water are nearly different, namely 4,64, 4,60 and
4,63 GHz, respectively. Meanwhile, the ethanol resonant frequency (εr =
24,5) is 5,16 GHz. Hexagonal SRR was also successfully simulated to
detect variation of ethanol concentration which represented by differences
in permittivity, there are quite significant shifts of resonant frequency for
each variation.
The presence of striplines strongly influences the characteristics of
hexagonal metamaterials, especially in resonant frequency shifts. These
shifts occur in the range of 4,31-5,82 GHz for a different number of striplines.
Furthermore, the distribution of electric field dominantly occurred in the
resonator ring, in contrast to the magnetic field distributed in the stripline.
