ABSTRACT
This research was conducted in July at the Insit Village, Tebing Tinggi Barat District,
Meranti Islands Regency, Riau Province. With the aim of research to determine the
development of white snapper cultivation in the area, knowing the use of production factors
for the cultivation of white snapper in floating net cage and knowing the amount of income
earned in the white snapper cage cultivation business. The method used in this research is a
survey method. The results showed that the development of the white snapper cultivation
business was the maximum in the third period, namely 2020 with a production of 5.250 tons /
year with a total of 15 bags of cages, has 10 members and is still active today. This
cultivation business did not produce in 2019 and was converted into local fish production.
The use of production factors in the white snapper cultivation business with the stocking
density of 500 fish / bag of cage and the yield reaches 350 kg. The feed used is trash fish, to
produce 1 kg of white snapper requires 7.2 kg of feed. Labor is the cultivator itself and at
harvest time it requires 2 other workers. The selling price of white snapper is IDR.70.000 / kg
with a production size of 900 grams – 1,2 kg. The income of the white snapper cultivation
business is IDR. 2.903.333 / harvest for one bag.
