Pemanfaatan Spent Bleaching Earth (Sbe) Sebagai Bahan Baku Pembuatan Batako Dengan Penambahan Abu Sekam Padi
ABSTRACT
Utilization of Spent Bleaching Earth (SBE) in brick making is one alternative in
efforts to utilize SBE solid wasted in the cooking oil processing industry. In this
study, the used of SBE and the variation in the composition of rice husk ash as
well as the detention time used in brick-making with the quality of the brick. The
quality of the brick was determined based on the compressive strength and water
absorption as well as the Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP)
test. The implementation of this study was designed with fixed variables, were
15% SBE mass, 65% sand aggregate, and 20% cement. The variables changed,
were the amount of rice husk ash used as a reduction from part of the cement and
the detention time of 14 and 28 days. The dependent variable, were the value of
the compressive strength and absorption capacity refers to (SNI 03-0349-1989)
and the sample which had the highest compressive strength and lowest water
absorption value was subjected to the TCLP test referring to (PP No. 101 of
2014). The results showed that the concrete blocks that used 15% SBE and 10%
rice husk ash at the age of 28 days had a compressive strength of 10.75 MPa and
had a water absorption capacity of 7.36%. Based on the results of the TCLP test,
the concentrations of heavy metals, namely Pb, Cd, Cu, Ni, and Zn in the brick
with the used of 15% SBE were below the established quality standards.
