Model Komunikasi Terapeutik Perawat pada Pasien Skizofrenia di Rumah Sakit Jiwa Tampan Provinsi Riau
Schizophrenia is a neurological disease and is a serious mental disorder that affects the patient's perception, way of thinking, language, emotions, and social behavior. To be able to communicate with schizophrenic patients requires a special technique because schizophrenic patients tend to experience self-concept, are preoccupied with their own world and tend to be physically healthy but not mentally. In the nursing world, the healing technique used is called therapeutic communication. Therapeutic communication is communication which has therapeutic meaning for patient healing which is carried out by nurses to help patients achieve an adaptive and positive condition again. In the therapeutic communication process, various communication models used by nurses will be explained, so that the communication carried out on schizophrenic patients can run effectively and efficiently. The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze the processes and methods of therapeutic communication by nurses in schizophrenic patients. In this study the authors used a qualitative descriptive method. Subjects in this study were 5 (five) nurses and 2 (two) calm schizophrenic patients.
The results showed that the therapeutic communication model used by nurses in schizophrenia patients was an interpersonal model and a medical model. The interpersonal model, namely the nurse shows empathy, attention, positive attitude, and sincerely accepts the patient verbally and nonverabally. The medical model is the action of nursing care in schizophrenia patients in the form of pharmacology and ECT (ElectroConvulsive Therapy) therapy. The therapeutic communication process carried out by nurses in schizophrenic patients uses four stages of therapeutic communication, namely the pre-interaction stage, the orientation stage, the work stage and the termination stage. Therapeutic communication methods used by nurses in schizophrenic patients are assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation.
