This study aims to analyze and examine the influence of competence on journalists 'professionalism and ethics, analyze and test the influence of the environment on journalists' professionalism and ethics, analyze and test the influence of ethics on journalists 'professionalism and analyze and test the influence of ethics in mediating competency and environmental tests on journalists' professionalism. Pekanbaru.
The approach used in this research is quantitative. The population in this study was 224 people consisting of journalists who are members of the Indonesian Journalists Alliance and the Indonesian Journalists Association in Pekanbaru, while the sample used for this study was 122 people. The indicators measured are awareness, knowledge, journalist skills and indicators of environmental factors such as economy, ideology, professionalism, technology, and social aspects. In addition, there are indicators regarding the scope and professional characteristics.
The results showed that each of the competency test variables and environmental factors showed a positive and significant influence on the professionalism of journalists in Pekanbaru. In addition, the ethical variable also moderates the competency test and environmental factors on journalists' professionalism.
