Hubungan Penguasaan Kanji Dan Pemahaman Membaca Teks Pada Mahasiswa Angkatan 2018 Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang Fkip Universitas Riau
Reading is one of the important skills in improving language skills. There are several factors that affect the ability to read, including understanding grammar, mastery of vocabulary, ability to read letters, background knowledge, and other factors.
Japanese uses some letters in its writing system, one of the letter using in Japanese writing system is kanji. Kanji are letters that consist of elements of form, sound and meaning. Its mean kanji is an important aspect and affects the reading ability of Japanese learners.
In this study, the author conducted a study with the aim of knowing how much influence the ability of kanji has on reading comprehension. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative. The instrument used in this study is a test instrument which is divided into two tests, namely the kanji ability test and the text reading comprehension test. These two instruments aim to measure the students' ability to master kanji and to read comprehension. Then the results of these two tests were processed and statistical correlation tests were carried out using the SPSS program.
From this study, the results obtained a very strong correlation between kanji ability and reading comprehension of the text. Then after testing the hypothesis, it was found that the positive effect of the ability of kanji on reading comprehension of the text. In addition, the ability of kanji related to understanding the meaning of kanji has a strong correlation with reading comprehension of the text.
