Keberhasilan Perbanyakan Vegetatif Pada Tanaman Matoa (Pometia Pinnata)
The matoa plant (Pometia pinnata.) is a typical plant of the Papua region
belonging to the Sapindaceae family. Matoa is generally propagated through
seeds (generative). Matoa seeds are recalcitrant which cannot be stored for long.
Vegetative propagation has the advantage that seed production does not depend
on the availability of seeds or fruit season, can produce new plants with the same
genetic characteristics as the parent, produce more plants in a short time and can
reproduce faster and the plants are relatively short. Another advantage is that the
selling price obtained is higher when compared to generative propagation. This
study aims to obtain the best technique for vegetative propagation of matoa from
cuttings, grafting and grafting methods. The research was carried out at the
matoa plantation in Purwo Farm, Rumbai, as well as the Plant Ecophysiology
Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, Pekanbaru. The time of
research and data collection was carried out for four months, from June to
October 2020. This study consisted of 3 separate experiments, namely: cuttings,
grafting and grafting with 5 replications. Observation parameters in each
experiment were carried out descriptively on the percentage of success
parameters (%), time of emergence of roots (HSP), shoot length (cm), number of
new leaves (strands), number of roots (units), root length (cm), root volume (ml),
root wet weight (g), and root dry weight (g) for cuttings treatment; percentage of
success (%), time of root emergence (Days), number of roots (units), root length
(cm), root volume (ml), root wet weight (g), and root dry weight (g) for graft
treatment; percentage of success (%), number of new leaves (strands), and
observation of skin tissue for shoot grafting treatment.
The results showed that the success of matoa cuttings was 0% from 75
samples, the success for matoa grafts was 39% from 75 samples and the success
for matoa shoot grafting was 0% from 75 samples.
