Pembuatan Sabun Mandi Cair Dengan Penambahan Ekstrak Daun Pandan Wangi Sebagai Bahan Antibakteri
ABSTRACT
Pandan wangi leaf extract can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria to prevent skin infections. The ability of pandan wangi leaves extract to inhibit microbial growth can be applied to liquid soap. The purpose of this study was to observe the characteristics of liquid soap and antibacterial properties of fragrant pandan leaves extracted against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. This study used a completely randomized design with five treatments and three replications to obtain 15 experimental units. The treatments in this study were variations in the addition of pandan wangi leaves extract, including S1 (6%), S2 (8%), S3 (10%), S4 (12%), and S5 (14%) in liquid soap formulations. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). If the calculated F value is greater than or equal to the F table, then it is followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% level. The results of variance showed that the addition of pandan wangi leaf extract had a significant effect on foam stability, degree of acidity (pH), antibacterial activity test, and sensory test. The liquid soap treatment selected in this study was S5 treatment (14%) with a foam stability 81.52%, specific gravity of 1.0596 g/ml, the viscosity of 271.7 cP, degree of acidity 9.02, free alkali 0%, antibacterial inhibition zone Escherichia coli of 11.22 mm and Staphylococcus aureus of 12.22 mm, not irritation and the preferred hedonically with a description of pandan wangi flavored.
