Oxbow lake in Buluh Cina village is a lake that is utilized by the
community as a place to catch fish and tourist attractions, so it has the potential
to affect the quality of the lake waters. This study aims to identify ecological,
economic, social and cultural problems to formulate sustainable management.
The research was conducted on two lakes, in January – February 2021.
Primary data was collected by using survey method, in-depth interview technique,
observation and field measurements with 3 stations. Analysis of the sustainable
management of Pinang Luar lake was carried out using an MDS
(Multidimensional Scaling) analysis approach with the help of RapLake Software
(Modified Rapfish)
The results showed that the ecological dimensions are quite sustainable
(57.59). The condition of the lake waters is good and the diversity of fish is
moderate. Furthermore, the economic dimension is quite sustainable (58.08). The
condition of the economic dimension shows that most of the people have income
above the minimum wage in Kampar district, and most of the people use the lake
as a source of livelihood. The social dimension is classified as very sustainable
(75.37). The condition of the social dimension shows that the community has
attended junior high – senior high school levels. The Buluh Cina village
community already knows the existence of Pinang Luar lake and Pinang Dalam
lake, and the cultural dimension is classified as very sustainable (100). The
culture of the community in the research location has very good cultural values,
although there have been some changes.
From the MDS (Multidimensional Scaling) analysis, it shows that the
index is quite sustainable (69.68). The formulation of all dimensions, (1) the
ecological dimension of the formulation of sustainable management was carried
out through reforestation, natural law enforcement activities and the role of
farmers in protecting the environment, forming and strengthening institutional
participation of the community who cares about the environment, as well as
collaborating with government agencies. (2) The economic dimension of the
formulation of sustainable management was done through collaboration with
relevant agencies to develop the potential for natural tourism as an alternative
livelihood to increase people's income. (3) The social dimension of the sustainable
management formulation was carried out through the tribal chief or ninik mamak
who needs to improve and provide guidance to the Buluh Cina village community
about the importance of maintaining social values so that they are
environmentally friendly, because the social dimension is interrelated with other
dimensions. (4) The social dimension of the formulation of sustainable
management was done through collaboration with Riau Malay customary
institutions to conduct socialization and counseling on how to maintain and
protect Riau Malay cultures and especially in the village of Buluh Cina.
