ABSTRACT
The objective of this study is to identify social economic character of independent oil
palm smallholders, to measure the application of good agricultural practices, and to
measure the gap between the farmer practices and the standard of RSPO. The
population of this research is oil palm smallholders of Sawit Jaya Cooperative at
Benteng Hulu Village, Mempura Subdistrict, Siak District. The study used primary and
secondary data collected through a survey using questionnaire and in-depth interview
with farmers and other stakeholders in the supply chains. The result shows that the
application of RSPO standards is low. The farmers and their cooperative have to be
improved their knowledge and skill about the standard of RSPO.
