This study aims to explain the study of ethnomathematics in the Malay tradition of
measurement material in elementary schools. The method used in this research is an
ethnographic research method which is included in the qualitative research method.
The collection techniques used are observation, interviews and documentation, then
the data is analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results of this study
indicate that there is an ethnomathematical study in the Malay tradition related to
measurement materials in high school grades (grades 4, 5 and 6 elementary schools).
including (1) unit of measurement and measuring instrument depa, finger joints and
suku in the length measurement material; (2) units of measurement for chi, mato/mate
and tanding on weight measurement materials; (3) the unit of measurement is jembo
and jalur on the material of area measurement; (4) unit of measurement for tan and
cart on volume measurement material and (5) non-standard measuring instrument
using sundial and natural signs on time measurement material. Based on the
measurement activities carried out by the Malay community in Bengkalis District, it
is clear that they are familiar with a number of basic principles in mathematics that
