Analisis Keberlanjutan Ekowisata Mangrove Mengkapan Siak
The objective of this research are to identifying conditions of ecological, economic, socio-cultural, legal-institutional and infrastructure-technological dimensions of society, analyzing the index and sustainability status of ecotourism management and strategies for its management.
This research was carried out from October to December 2019, in the Mengapan Village, Sungai Apit, Siak. This research uses quantitative and qualitative approaches with survey methods, literature studies and interviews. Data analysis used Mangrove Vegetation Analysis at two stations (Station 1 in the ecotourism area and Station 2 on the river), Rap-Mangrove Analysis was also used to determine the index and sustainability status of Mangrove Ecotourism management and Leverage Analysis to determine the sensitive attributes on each dimension.
The results showed that api-api (Avicennia alba), bakau (Rhizophora apiculata), berembang (Sonneratia alba) species were found at both stations, but tancang/tinjang (Bruguera gymnorizha), sesop (Lumnitzera littorea), and nyirih (Xylocarpus granatum) was only found at station 2. This causes the diversity index value of Station 1 is lower than Station 2 that has moderate diversity. Of the five dimensions, the economic and ecological dimensions are less sustainable, while the socio-cultural dimension is in the good category (very sustainable), followed by the infrastructure-technology dimension and the legal-institutional dimension. Of the five dimensions, other income is the most sensitive attribute, where the Mengkapan Village community’s income below the Siak Regency UMK, so that side jobs are needed to fulfill their needs. This is also influenced by the limitations of community resources in managing mangrove forest products which should be able to be processed to increase the value of these forest products and improve the economy of rural communities. But behind this, the community already understands the importance of the existence of mangroves, which is supported by the existence of an unwritten regulation (local wisdom) that does not allow logging.
The management strategy that can be use is to provide workshop related to the processing of mangrove forest products into processed cakes or syrups that can increase the income of rural communities. In addition, it is also necessary to rehabilitate mangrove areas that are prone to abrasion with planting mangrove species based on the mangrove zoning.
