Strategi Pengelolaan Lingkungan Di Fasilitas Galangan Kapal Di Pulau Batam
Based on data from the Ministry of Industry (2018), there are currently 250 shipyards in Indonesia. Around 70 shipyards are located in Batam which is indeed a favorite location, due to its geographical proximity to Singapore. The shipbuilding industry in the free trade area and free port of Batam is the largest in Indonesia. The rapid growth of development and industrial development, as well as high mobility, causes problems, namely environmental damage in coastal areas. The cause of the damage is dominated by oil pollution, waste, and materials leftover from the fabrication process, steel construction, and others. One of the efforts to overcome the impact of environmental damage caused by the shipbuilding industry is to implement better environmental management, one of which is to implement an Environmental Management System (EMS). An environmental management system that uses ISO 14001 is an international standard that guarantees the performance of an environmental management system, emerging as a result of several environmental issues that are often discussed in society. The purpose of this research is to study the effectiveness of the Integrated Management System and its related ecological, social, and economic opportunities.
The research method used is quantitative analysis, namely verification analysis using the LISREL SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) statistical test, while the data model analysis uses the Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM) method, which is the development of modeling techniques for strategic policy planning. Based on the results of observations at shipbuilding companies in Batam, the total score generated for the Organizational Context principle is 12.34%, the total score for the leadership principle is 14.46%, the total score generated for the planning principle is 18.64%, the total score generated for the principle of support (support) is 19.85%, the total score generated for the principle of Implementation and Operations (Operation) is 7.65%, the total score generated for the principle of Inspection and Operation Corrective Action (Performance Evaluation) is 15.62% while the total score generated for the principle of improvement is 11.44%. The novelty of this research is the development of theories and methods in determining environmental management strategies associated with the Environmental Management System ISO 14001:2015 which can be implemented effectively by supporting with ecological, economic and social factors.
