Pengembangan Video Animasi Pembelajaran Berbasis Powtoon Pada Materi Sistem Respirasi Kelas XI SMA

21st century learning is becoming increasingly important to ensure that
students have learning and innovation skills, strong communication and
collaboration skills, skills in using information and communication technology,
critical, creative and innovative thinking skills and problem solving skills. The use
of information and communication technology provides opportunities for teachers
to design more interesting learning by utilizing learning media as a means of
delivering learning materials. Learning media applied in the learning process is
expected to streamline the learning process, as well as attract and motivate
students, including biology lessons.
Based on the results of the pre-survey, the teacher stated that the
respiratory system material is biological material that is difficult for students to
understand because there are many processes that need to be studied and are
abstract, such as the physiological processes of the body related to its structure
and function, as well as the relationship between organs in relation to the body's
physiology. In addition, the problem that occurs is that the learning process during
the current covid-19 pandemic is still not optimal in developing learning media.
Learning tends to only distribute material to students, in the form of picture media
and power points. For this reason, researchers develop learning media that are
devoted to learning animation videos with the help of the Powtoon application
that can be easily accessed, equipped with various features of choice of animated
characters, which are very interesting, including handwritten animation, cartoon
animation, and transition effects that are very interesting. more lively and very
easy timeline settings, have objects, backgrounds, images, music or audio, insert
voice and video recordings.
This research was conducted in two places, namely on the campus of the
Biology Education Study Program, FKIP University of Riau and at SMAN Plus
Riau Province. This type of research is a development that refers to an R&D
research approach using the ADDIE model. The ADDIE model consists of five
stages, namely Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate. In this study,
researchers only conducted research up to the development stage. The research
procedure starts from curriculum analysis, student analysis and concept analysis.
Then proceed with the design and development stage of a powtoon-based
animated video. After producing a full Powtoon-based animation video, 4
validators are validated to see whether or not the results of the animation video
development that have been carried out are valid. Furthermore, the first stage of
the trial was carried out to determine student responses to the animated videos that
had been developed and then stage II trials were carried out to 20 students of
SMAN Plus Riau Province to find out student responses to the animated videos
that had been developed.
The instruments used to collect data are validation sheets and respondent
questionnaires. The validation sheet and questionnaire consist of 4 aspects,
namely display aspects, program aspects, pedagogic aspects and content aspects.
Research data were collected by filling out a validation sheet and a limited trial
questionnaire. Validators, students and students provide input and suggestions to
improve the animated videos that have been developed. The research data were
analyzed using descriptive analysis.
The animated video that has been developed in KD 3.7 material for the
respiratory system consists of 3 meetings, namely animated video 1 "Organ
structure and respiration mechanism", animated video 2 "Air volume, gas
exchange and respiration frequency" and animated video 3 "Disorders in the
human respiratory system ". Based on the results of data analysis, a recap of the
validation results of 3 animated videos on the aspect of appearance, program
aspect, pedagogic aspect and content aspect respectively is 3.70, 3.85, 3.90 and
3.72 with an average overall score of 3.79 which is in the very valid category.
Then the results of the limited trial phase 1, the average results of animation
videos I, animation videos II and animation videos III were 3.76 with very good
categories. In the limited trial phase 2, the average results of the animation video
I, video animation II and video animation III in the second trial had a score of
3.80 with a very good category.
Based on the results of validation, testing and data analysis that have
been carried out, it can be concluded that the animation video based on powtoon
on the respiratory system material for class XII SMA has been successfully
developed and obtained very valid and very good categories so that it can be
applied in classroom learning activities.
