Peningkatan Keterampilan Membaca Melalui Strategi Direct Reading Thinking Activities (DRTA) Kelas V SDN 161 Pekanbaru
This research was motivated by the low reading skills of fifth grade students at SDN 161 Pekanbaru with an average of 68.54. Therefore, this study aims to improve the reading skills of class V. This research is a classroom action research (CAR) which consists of four stages, namely, planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The subjects in this study were 44 students in class V.B consisting of 17 male students and 27 female students. The results showed that the initial data increased after the implementation of the first cycle. While the first cycle data experienced an increase in the second cycle. Then the data in the second cycle increased in the third cycle. This increase can be seen from the class average from the initial data which was originally 68.54 to 68.70 in the first cycle. Then it became 69.90 in the second cycle and became 73.51 in the third cycle. While learning completeness has increased from the initial data of 36.4% to 63.6% in the first cycle. Then from the first cycle of 63.6% to 70.5% in the second cycle. Then from 70.5 in the second cycle to 84.1 in the third cycle. In this third cycle, the results of the evaluation of students' reading have reached the predetermined indicators, namely 75% of students who experience completeness. Based on the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Direct Reading Thinking Activities (DRTA) Strategy can improve the reading skills of the fifth grade students of SDN 161 Pekanbaru.
