Analisis Kesalahan Peserta Didik Dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) Kesetimbangan Kimia Berdasarkan Prosedur Newman Di Kelas XI MIPA SMAN 4 Pekanbaru
This research is motivated by students' understanding of chemical equilibrium
material which can be seen from the average score of students' learning outcomes
at SMAN 4 Pekanbaru which is not very satisfactory. The purpose of this study was
to find out the types and causes of errors made by class XI MIPA students at SMAN
4 Pekanbaru in working on HOTS chemical equilibrium questions based on the
Newman procedure. The types of errors that need to be analyzed are 1) Errors in
reading questions, 2) Errors in understanding the problem, 3) Errors in
transformation, 4) Errors in process skills and 5) Errors in determining the final
answer. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The
research subjects were 50 students of class XI MIPA, as well as 3 selected subjects
as interviewees. The results showed that there were no reading errors,
understanding errors obtained a percentage of 43.2%, transformation errors
obtained a percentage of 48.6%, process skills errors obtained a percentage of
53.2%, and answer writing errors obtained a percentage of 54.4%. Factors that
cause students to make mistakes are due to not being able to absorb the material
properly, in a hurry and not focused, not understanding the meaning of the problem,
not being careful in determining the information in the problem, not being skilled
at translating the question sentence into a mathematical model sentence, not
knowing the procedure or steps who is right in calculating the formula that has
been written, is confused about writing units, cannot write conclusions.
