Uji Propertis Bahan Dasar Batu Bata Daerah Kulim Pekanbaru Dan Uji Mekanik Batu Bata
ABSTRACT Clay or loam has very low permeability and is plastic at moderate water content. Therefore, this research aims to determine the water content and plasticity of clay in the basic material for making red bricks taken from two different places, namely Jalan Badak Ujung, Tenayan Raya District, RT 04 RW 06, Pekanbaru City and Jalan Sialang Bungkuk, District Sialang Sakti, RT 02 RW 08, Pekanbaru City. The clay test carried out is a properties test which includes testing for Water Content, Liquid Limit, Plastic Limit and Soil Plasticity Index as well as testing for Mechanical properties (compressive strength). The process of taking clay samples directly from nature, namely around the bed and the brick burning process using the oven method. So from the properties test of clay samples from Tenayan Raya and Sialang Sakti, the water content values were 19.0% and 29.5%, the liquid limit was 43.70% and 32.85%, the plastic limit was 29.35% and 24.31%, so the plasticity index was 14.35% and 8.54%, for the test. Brick mechanics from Tenayan Raya and Sialang Sakti obtained compressive strength values that reached SNI standards with the lowest class, namely class 25, being bricks from Sialang Sakti with the addition of 5% cement of 27.2 kg/cm2.
