The Maaghak Suwek tradition is a rice harvest tradition that involves rice farmers as the main actors. Over time, this tradition is now carried out by the entire village community of Pulau Birandang. This study aims to determine the stages of implementing the Maaghak Suwek tradition and to describe the functions of the tradition for the village community of Pulau Birandang. This study uses a qualitative analysis approach with Emile Durkheim’s functional theory approach. The research subjects consisted of seven poeple selected using purposive sampling. Primary and secondary data collection was carried out through observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that although the Maaghak Suwek tradition is a rice harvest tradition by rice farmers, all elements can enjoy the Maaghak Suwek tradition by all levels of society. The Maaghak Suwek tradition has functions for religious indigenous communities, villages, the general public and rice farmers, namely: eliminating pests, expressing gratitude and requests, preserving culture, strengthening beliefs, create a positive image of the village, a source of income for the community, as well as strengthening solidarity and maintaining integrity.
