Prarancangan Pabrik Biosurfaktan Proses Fermentasi Glukosa Off-Grade Dengan Desain Alat Utama Mixer Settler (Ms-101)
ABSTRACT
The surfactant industry in Indonesia is still very limited, even though its use is increasing. According to data from the Chemistry Center of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), Indonesia needs around 95 thousand tons of surfactants per year while domestic production capacity is only around 55 thousand tons per year so that as much as 44 thousand tons of surfactants are still imported with specifications produced from petroleum. Surfactants have many uses in the industrial world, namely as emulsifiers, wetting agents, and detergents. Surfactants that are widely used today are surfactants that are synthesized from chemical reactions so they are not biodegradable and cause many environmental problems. A study on the feasibility of building a biosurfactant factory is necessary. This feasibility study aims to (1) Analyze the feasibility of investing in building a biosurfactant factory based on technical, institutional, market, environmental, management, and legal aspects; (2) Analyze the financial feasibility of building a factory; (3) Analyze the sensitivity of the feasibility of building a biosurfactant factory to changes in production costs and decreases in production capacity. The analysis was carried out quantitatively based on the criteria of NPV, IRR, BEP, and sensitivity analysis. The results of the study showed that a biosurfactant factory is feasible to be built with a production capacity of 8,000 tons/year. Based on non-financial specifications consisting of market, environment, management, and law, there are no obstacles that hinder the construction and operation of the factory. From a financial perspective, the construction of the factory can be carried out with an NPV value of Rp.349,062,429,546.94; IRR 22.71; PBP 4.75 years; and BEP 47%.
