Pengembangan Generator Set Free Energy Menggunakan Pendekatan Value Engineering (Ve)
ABSTRACT
The development of sustainable energy needs demands innovation in the electricity
generation system that is not only efficient, but also environmentally friendly and
economical. Generator sets (gensets), although commonly used as backup power
sources, still rely on fossil fuels that have a number of limitations such as high
operational costs, emission pollution, and dependence on limited resources. In
response to these challenges, this study aims to develop a Free Energy Generator
Set system with a Value Engineering (VE) approach in order to reduce production
costs without sacrificing product function and quality. This study applies the VE
methodology which includes five main stages, namely the information stage (initial
information and user needs), the creativity stage (development of alternative design
ideas), the analysis/evaluation stage (assessment of the effectiveness and efficiency
of each component), the development stage (two and three-dimensional design with
CAD software) and the presentation stage (recommendations and testing of selected
concepts). Data were collected through a questionnaire method (Quality Function
Deployment) involving micro-business actors to map user needs for generators,
such as electric current stability, durability, ease of maintenance and affordability.
The results of the study showed that several conventional generator components
can be eliminated or replaced such as the elimination of the fuel system and
combustion system. New components such as electric motors, capacitors and
flywheel systems (crankshafts). Cost analysis showed a significant reduction in total
production costs through the VE approach, while maintaining the functional and
structural quality of the product. In addition, the design of the development results
is more environmentally friendly, easy to operate and suitable for use by small and
medium businesses.
