ABSTRACT
Soybean (Glycine max L.) is an important legume crop due to its high nutritional
value and its utilization in various processed products. Efforts to increase soybean
productivity are often hampered by the growing dependence on inorganic
fertilizers, which pose environmental concerns and increase production costs. A
promising and eco-friendly alternative to reduce the use of inorganic fertilizers is
the application of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) derived from marine fish waste
enriched with Bacillus cereus, a beneficial bacteria known for promoting plant
growth. This study aimed to determine the optimal concentration of marine fish
waste-based LOF enriched with Bacillus cereus in combination with reduced
doses of N, P, and K fertilizers on the growth and yield of soybean plants. The
research was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, using a
completely randomized design (CRD) with a non-factorial arrangement. The
treatments consisted of three concentrations of LOF (0%, 3%, and 6%) combined
with three NPK fertilizer levels (100%, 75%, and 50%), resulting in seven
treatment combinations. Each treatment was replicated four times with two
sample plants per experimental unit, totaling 56 polybags. Observed parameters
included plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, percentage of effective
root nodules, days to flowering, days to maturity, percentage of filled pods,
number of seeds, seed weight per plant, and 100-seed weight. Data were analyzed
using ANOVA and continued with Duncan's multiple range test at a 5%
significance level. The results indicated that the application of 6% LOF with
100% NPK produced the best results in terms of plant height, number of leaves,
and seed weight per plant. In addition, the 6% LOF treatment was able to reduce
inorganic fertilizer use by up to 25% without significantly reducing soybean yield.
