SUMMARY
KUSMEGA DEWI, NIM. 2310246431, The Principal’s Leadership Design in Implementing a Positive Culture to Improve Environmental Care Character at SD Negeri 105 Pekanbaru, supervised by Erlisnawati and Hendri Marhadi.
This research aims to produce a leadership design for the school principal in improving the character of environmental care at SD Negeri 105 Pekanbaru, to evaluate the effectiveness of its implementation, and to analyze the responses of teachers and students toward the applied leadership design. The method used in this research is Research and Development (R&D) employing the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The developed leadership design focuses on strengthening a positive culture in schools through various structured programs such as routine classroom duties, cleanliness monitoring, tree planting, waste recycling, and creative programs like NASA (NAmpak Sampah Ambil) and Operasi Semut.
The research results show that this leadership design was systematically structured and implemented effectively. The programs were consistently carried out by involving all school members, including the principal, teachers, students, and parents. Evaluation through observations and interviews revealed that the program successfully encouraged short-term behavioral changes in students and continuously fostered the character of environmental care. Teachers and students’ responses toward the leadership design were also highly positive. Teachers actively served as role models, provided feedback, and monitored students’ behavior, while students demonstrated initiative in maintaining the school’s cleanliness without being instructed. Overall, this positive culture-based school leadership design proved to be effective in creating a school environment that supports the continuous development of students’ environmental care character.
