Physics as a science that studies natural phenomena requires an understanding of facts, concepts, principles, and theories obtained through the scientific process. However, physics learning is often centered on the teacher, so students tend to only memorize formulas without understanding their meaning which causes physics to be considered difficult. One approach that can overcome this problem is a guided inquiry learning model that involves students in an active process and trains their scientific skills, with the support of technology such as virtual laboratories. The use of virtual laboratories can also replace the limitations of physical laboratory equipment and provide a more in-depth learning experience. Students can explore concepts and repeat experiments by implementing virtual laboratories as learning media.
This study aims to describe students' science process skills on straight motion material in grade XI using a guided inquiry model assisted by virtual lab phet simulation and to determine the differences in students' science process skills on straight motion material between classes that apply guided inquiry learning assisted by virtual lab phet simulation media and classes that apply conventional learning models. Therefore, the guided inquiry learning model assisted by a virtual laboratory is expected to be able to improve students' science process skills in the linear motion material of class XI SMA.
The type of research used is a quasi experiment with a posttest only control group design model. The population in this study included class XI students of SMA Negeri 15 Pekanbaru who received physics subjects which were divided into 5 classes, then 2 classes were selected randomly. The sample taken in this study was class XI A as an experimental class that applied the guided inquiry learning model assisted by virtual lab phet simulation media and class XI B as a control class that applied conventional learning. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 15 Pekanbaru in September 2024. The data collection method used was a posttest of science process skills in the form of objective questions. The results of the data obtained were processed using descriptive analysis and inferential analysis.

Based on the results of the descriptive analysis obtained that the science process skills of students in classes that apply learning with guided inquiry models are higher than classes that apply conventional learning with an average posttest score of science process skills in the experimental class of 72.43 and in the control class of 63.64. The results of the inferential analysis of the hypothesis test obtained a significance value of 0.000 which means that Ha is accepted so that there is a significant difference in students' science process skills between classes that apply physics learning with guided inquiry learning models assisted by virtual lab phet simulation and classes that apply conventional learning on straight motion material.
Based on the research and analysis that has been carried out, it was concluded that the science process skills of students in classes that apply guided inquiry learning models assisted by virtual laboratory media are higher than classes that apply conventional learning and there is a significant difference in students' science process skills in classes that apply guided inquiry learning models assisted by virtual lab phet simulation media compared to classes that apply conventional learning.
