Pembuatan Cetakan Hot Press Spesimen Komposit High Density Polyethylene Dengan Fiberglass
Abstract
The use of plastic materials gradually began to shift the use of other materials such
as metal, wood, and leather. plastic materials are used in various products ranging
from electronic products, automotive, and household appliances. Plastic materials
used for automotive and other components that require higher strength reinforced
with fibers are known as Composites. Composites formed from thermoplastics must
use tools capable of melting and shaping or molding as needed. The tool to be able
to produce good composites from thermoplastics, especially HDPE composites with
fiberglass, is to use the hot press method, so the authors make hot press molds for
high density polyethylene composites in the hope of forming good composites to
serve as test specimens. Composite specimens are formed into sheets to be able to
make several specimens in one mold. With sheet form, fatigue test specimens, tensile
tests and impact tests can be made. The main components of a hot press composite
press are hydraulic press, temperature control, specimen mold, heater, mold
position, and specimen mold base. The manufacture of specimen molds begins with
making a heating element groove which is carried out using a milling machine and
continues with the process of drilling at the end of the side of the workpiece, making
holes at the end of the base of the specimen mold using a drill machine, making
holes in the position of the mold by using a machine. drills, as well as the
manufacture of specimen molds by using a grinding machine and a welding
machine, then all components are assembled and mounted on a hydraulic press as
the main driver. The manufacture of high density polyethylene composite specimen
molds with fiberglass can be applied with a hydraulic drive system and can be used
properly and correctly, and hot press composite specimen molds can be used and
produce high density polyethylene composite specimens with fiberglass fibers with
a size of 260 mm x 260 mmx10mm.
